Time: 10 minutes.

Seasonable at any time.

Ingredients
  1. 1 lb. of remains of cold roast beef;
  2. 1/4 lb. of bacon or ham
  3. salt to taste
  4. pepper to taste
  5. 1 small bunch of minced savoury herbs
  6. 1 or 2 eggs
Directions
  1. Mince the beef very finely (if underdone it will be better)
  2. Add to it the bacon, which must also be chopped very small
  3. Mix well together
  4. Season, stir in the herbs, and bind with an egg, or 2 should 1 not be sufficient
  5. Make it into small square cakes, about 1/2 inch thick
  6. Fry them in hot dripping
  7. Serve in a dish with good gravy poured round them
