Countersigned and accomplished by Commissioner of Army Accounts Thomas Meriwether. 1 page, 4.25x6.5 inches; loss at upper right corner repaired with paper verso, remnants of hinging along right edge verso, mostly illegible owner's ink stamp on verso, endorsements on verso. "Council-Chamber" [Richmond], 28 February 1785.

The second, £2.3.8 "for 10 Bushells of oats three of Barley and for said Adams's Rates as a Proprietary of Penny Ferry Meadows." Each additionally signed by payer, the second docketed on verso in holograph. Each approximately 2.75x6.5 inches; loss of "s" to signature of second, faint scattered staining, irregular edges, folds. Braintree [Quincy], 14 November 1772; Boston, 7 January 1777.

RARE FOUNDER JOSEPH MEACHAM NY SHAKER MEMENTO, PROPERTY OVAL SHAKER TIN SNUFF BOX with two paper notes inside, the first reading Joseph Meacham Tobacco Box, 1796, Presented to Dr. J.V. Mansfield by the Shakers"; the second "This box once the property of Joseph Meacham, the founder of the first Shaker community of the Society at Mount Lebanon (NY) 1780- was born 1740, died at Mount Lebanon 1796, aged 56 years. Joined & converted to Ann Lee faith 1780 - He Joseph said to Ann Lee "I wish to become a Shaker, her reply was "Well Joseph, if you wish to join the Shakers, you must throw away that tobacco box, for we never have a tobacco chewer in our community. Joseph took this box from his pocket and handed it to Ann, saying from this day henceforth, I will abandon the habit of tobacco chewing. Ann took this box and said Joseph so long as thee keep this promise we will consider thee worthy that a place in the community and Fellowship, thee a Brother, Ann Lee". 1,375" x 4.5" x 3,75”.

NEWTON’S NEW AND IMPROVED TERRESTRIAL FLOOR GLOBE, 21" diameter, "Accurately Delineated from the observations of the most esteemed Navigators and Travellers to the Present Time, Manufactured by Newton & Son, 66 Chancery Lane & 3 Fleet Street, Temple Bar, London, Published 1st January 1853", with engraved brass hour dial at top, set within a wooden horizon ring with months and celestial configurations, mounted in a turned mahogany tripod floor stand with compass-centered base and brass casters, 42" high, diameter.

Condition: Toning and minor stains, 1.5” scratch above British Isles, three repaired breaks to base support arms.

PIE CRUST TILT TOP TEA TABLE, 18TH C. English Honduras Mahogany Table with remarkable 34.5" single plank top having molded edge, oak battens and tilt block, original brass latch, beautifully carved base with ring and urn turned column resting on high arched acanthus leaf carved legs ending in slipper pad feet, 30" tall, 26" leg to leg.

Condition: Good condition, repair to tilt block.

FEDERAL PERIOD MIRROR, Beautiful Gilt Frame with deep molded cornice having 18 spheres (1812-1816), the glass flanked by gothic triple columns, block and molding base, the upper panel in reverse painted glass depicting a naval battle between an American warship and a vessel of unknown origin, original paper label verso from Gilder John Doggett of Roxbury. 46" x 28.25" x 5.25”.

CHIPPENDALE ARCHITECT'S DESK, Georgian English Mahogany Mechanical Drawing Desk with ratcheted slat easel top having a built-in mechanical rising paper ledge, swing out candle holders, pull out legged drawer with what appear to be the original brasses, the 'square' legs have concealed Doric columns resting on brass casters, Sothebys sale tag inside, 31" x 36" x 24”.
