Included is a second, typed index card that traces the button's descent through the Musser family, suggesting it was found "around 1875." Such a button appears on page 391 of Alphaeus H. Albert's Record of American Uniform and Historical Buttons, Bicentennial Edition, 1977. Albert suggests 6-10 specimens were known.
